songs that will still blow me away years from now, vol. 1

I don't think I'd listened that closely to Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" (1988) in a long time. But I did the other day, and it's nice to be reminded how well some songs hold up after all these years. It's a great rap song, pop song, party song, dance song. Whatever you choose to call it, it's timeless.

Add Boz Scaggs's "Breakdown Dead Ahead" (1980) to the list. It's pretty much perfect.

  1. That is a song that usually, literally, makes me get up and start dancing as soon as i hear it. (It takes two, not breakdown...)

I like both, but they are very different. That Rob Base song is so so good, and i have it around here on a cassette tape, i believe. Probably time to get it on itunes or rhapsody.

  2. Listen to "Breakdown Dead Ahead" while you're driving. I know -- the title makes it sound like a jinx, but it's a great driving song. And a great song in general.
