"Dropped out of school when I was 22 ..."

In "Hooligan," a song from Kiss's 1977 album Love Gun, Peter Criss sings:

I got a '35 Chevy on a '55 frame
Can't even spell my name
Dropped out of school when I was 22
What can I do to satisfy you?

You'd think most colleges would teach students how to spell a name like "Chris" by senior year, but maybe Kiss's drummer went to a school that didn't offer that course until the final semester, by which point the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd proved too great for him to ignore.

(A friend of mine once knew a guy named Chris who was such a big Kiss fan that he legally changed the spelling of his first name to "Criss." I never asked if he went to college.)
